Doing the Dew, Old School Style
It’s official, Google is buying YouTube. I’m interested in seeing how they’ll change it. I like the YouTube interface a lot better than Google’s. And I wonder how the crackdown will be on long or copyrighted videos.
A big question for people is how they’re going to generate money from the service. YouTube was not making money because they couldn’t find how to put enough advertising in, or generate cash. Google’s got it going with the ability to charge for your videos (while Google gets a share). You can read more here.
Two guys are hitchiking 50 states in 50 days. They’ll be updating their website every day, and the site even has a GPS map of their current location, which will update every 15 seconds. Check it out here, and offer them a ride if you have a chance.
It is being reported that North Korea may have conducted the nuclear test it was talking about. USGS not reporting any seismic activity, but South Korea is saying they think they’ve tested it, and North Korea is saying they tested it.
This would have been an underground test, not a big boom somewhere and radioactive fallout. More information can be found here.
Found 2 great games to play while I’ve had a killer cold flu type of thing. Uplink, a hacker simulation game, and Defcon, a game where you can declare thermonuclear war. Both by the same company, Introversion.
You can get both games on Steam. I believe Uplink is $10, and Defcon is $15.
