Doing the Dew, Old School Style
I’m trying out and customizing some new themes. Please bear with me for an hour or so.
Edit: Ok, finished, I think I’ll stick with this one. Pretty similar to the last, except the colors are different, I got rid of a couple of things that were slowing the site down, it supports widgets, and I also changed a couple of the pictures up top.
Let me know if you hate it.
So I have used Facebook for a while now. It was nice to be able to find some old friends that I hadn’t talked to in forever, but it really doesn’t excite me. Just another Myspace.
Everybody knows that I hate MySpace. Most people don’t know that I actually tried it for about a month. So yes, I have actually used it, and continue on with my opinion that MySpace is the most evil website in the world. Not only for the actual evil people on there, but pretty much 95% of the users. It’s full of stupid people.
Luckily, Facebook isn’t as full of stupid people, but it’s still pretty bad. I won’t be shutting down my account, like I did with MySpace, but I just don’t log on that much. My social networking will stick to my current places.
Still looking for the next big social networking website. I am always willing to try out new sites, because it’s great to be one of the first ones to find the next big thing. You can be all snobby about it, or you can seriously help the website out, by writin about it, getting friends to join, donating if you can. Booyah for the internets.
I noticed an article the other day that didn’t seem right to me about BP dumping chemicals in lakes. After a little bit more research, it seems I was right to not believe the story. It’s just another case of the media pumping out false information about corporations they don’t like.
The article was in the Chicago Tribune, and says that BP is going to be releasing more chemicals into the lakes. They do state that it’s all within the legal limits, but don’t seem to emphasize that point very well. This article is not fair, and I’m sick of seeing reporters make things up.
The facts are:
BP is possibly the best oil company right now. They are working more and more each day to use more Canadian oil, and not rely on oil from the Middle East. This is of course harder, because Canadian oil is different, and harder to refine. They are working and investing more and more every day to bring the modern and future technology that allows them to refine this oil, while still keeping the costs lower for us, and the environmental impact small. They’re going to be spending more than $3 billion to modernize the Whiting Refinery to process more crude oil from Canada.
So watch what you read, We see now that the Chicago Tribune article was not fair, and did not have the facts. Remember to not believe what you read, without seeing both sides, and the real facts first.
Read up about Ron Paul and his stance on issues on Wikipedia.
I read a scary page today. On any website it may be scary, but as an executive order on the White House Page, it seems insane.
Executive Order: Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq
Basically what it says, is that because of the amount of protests, and people that don’t support the war in Iraq, the government can block your property. That means it can’t be “transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in”.
And how do they determine who they can do this to?
(i) to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of:
(A) threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq; or
(B) undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people;
(ii) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, logistical, or technical support for, or goods or services in support of, such an act or acts of violence or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or
(iii) to be owned or controlled by, or to have acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order.
(b) The prohibitions in subsection (a) of this section include, but are not limited to, (i) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order, and (ii) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.
As we see here, the United States is moving more and more towards becoming a police state, through nanny laws congress is passing, and the executive orders being put forth.
For the record, I do support the war in Iraq. It may not be handled right, but if we get out of there, it would be a really bad thing right now. I also love America, and support many things the President does.
