Doing the Dew, Old School Style

I’ve got an idea. We should all give away all of our freedoms so our mighty government can protect us instead. I mean, the government knows what’s right and what is safe, right? So why should we have any freedoms when they can do everything for us?
They just introduced a new scanner at many major airports. This scanner sees through clothing. This scanner shows everything underneath your clothes to the real person that is watching the scanner. While currently the scan is optional and you can trade out for a pat-down, many people that are made to go through this scanner aren’t even aware what the scanner is doing! This is a violation or privacy and your rights!
What makes me so sick is one lady who made a comment on the scanner. Eileen Reardon of Baltimore said:
Some of this stuff seems a little crazy, but in this day and age, you have to go along with it.
No! You don’t have to go along with it! The only reason that the government keeps pushing the limits like this is because of people like you who are so willing to give up their rights for a little “security.” Because we definitely need this scanner with all of the planes that keep dropping out of the sky from plastic weapons that are smuggled through.
Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.
Do you know who said that? Benjamin Franklin! We have a constitution for a reason! You should not stand for the constant dismantling of our freedoms and rights because the government says there is scary stuff out there!
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

i realize the point isn’t just a scanner at the airport, that it goes a lot deeper than that, but i’m one of those people that don’t think it’s such a bad thing.
The problem with this is it invades your privacy and violates your rights. Sure it’s not that bad, but this only leads to worse and worse things like this. They slowly ease everybody into total government control. You accept this, you’ll accept the next small thing, and the next. Before you know it you won’t have any freedoms or privacy yet.
Look at England already. They have no privacy, they have no freedoms. Their government tells them what to do. Their government tells them what is good and what is bad. We left England for a reason!
and i said right off that i realize that the issue runs deeper than airport security, but that being said, i never felt safer in a large city than when i was in london a few years back. so i’m willing to give up some freedoms for that security.
Maybe for you thats safety but definitely not for me. A government should serve and protect its people not rule them.
And I’ll bring my Ben Franklin quote down for you to read again:
“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”
People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people
Have you been watching ‘V for Vendatta’? Watching that movie with a tin-foil hat on is sure to bring out a rant about government invasion of privacy. Relax, Russ, its all good. ‘They’ are coming to get you.
Seriously, do you think they would be putting a scanner at the airports if it wasn’t necessary?
There’s no reason we should have to give up those rights so they can look through your clothes.
Do you see a lot of airplanes dropping out of the sky? Do you think we need more and more scanners? Maybe everybody should just put on their government issued uniforms and only fly when the government curfew is not in effect. And of course only fly to government approved destinations.
And yes I do think they would put scanners in if it wasn’t necessary. We need to stop putting blind trust in the government. The government does not know what is best for us! They want all they can to control us.
corrin: on second thought, please move to london and stay out of our system and society. We don’t want you making laws to affect our freedoms.
Hey Russ, just let them say your crazy and that it’s okay. When all their freedoms are gone maybe they’ll remember this.
Our government isn’t becoming looser and looser. its becoming stricter and stricter. Is there a line to how strict? Probably not. It’s a very slippery slope. Like it was said earlier, you let one thing happen and then the next isn’t so bad, and you walk into the flames willingly.
Wait! through your clothes! Like you see naked women! …Sweet! I want the job of watching that! and if anyone refuses you just give them a pat down claim to feel something and strip search! this is a great idea!
Just breathe Russ, the tacos are still here, for now
I’m not so afraid of loosing my life that I’m not going to live it!
Do not take me lightly when I say I will have my liberty, no matter what.
Don’t tred on me.
Russ: Great post. I have said it time and time again. I want my freedoms. I will pick up arms if needed. Do not take my guns because then I can not protect myself from the government.
This country is in trouble, hell the world is in trouble for that matter. You can’t have a conversation with out your rights being violated. You and think the Patriot Act for that. My wife was told that she couldn’t take pictures of buildings. How crazy is that.
You have the right to take pictures of buildings if you are on public property. They can’t try to stop you and if they try to hold you against your will you can press charges against them.
You can’t however take pictures of military installations and probably many government buildings
Soon they will take all our Tacos. Thats where i draw the line. That is where the Devine Order will step in and will rape this county of its power. Ony the Devine Assassins will stand in this dire time of need. Soon the our government will merge with Thailand and that is when the great war will begin.
i realize the point isn’t just a scanner at the airport, that it goes a lot deeper than that, but i’m one of those people that don’t think it’s such a bad thing.
Is this idiot for real?
