Doing the Dew, Old School Style
Russ - Posted on Thursday, July 24th 2008
I’ve stumbled across a great little series on the Celtx Blog about filmmaking. Anybody who makes or is interested in making movies should check this series out. Built around Celtx media pre-production software, Motion Sketches is an online video series that explores contemporary approaches to media production development. From the big screen to the mobile screen, from live-action to the virtual camera - Motion Sketches presents a range of highly practical perspectives on developing a media project from concept to production - screenplay, design, story, development and delivery.
Watch all the episodes on Blip.tv. And if you don’t already use Celtx, get it. Celtx is free, all-in-one pre-production software used by over 250,000 media creators worldwide to write and collaborate on film and video and media of all kind.

Thank’s for your information, Russ.
I check the site and still download now.
one again thanks.
thanks for sharing the information might prove very useful!
Dew Knight, thank you for this! this was something I was just looking for… to organize and collaborate on projects. I just had the chance to install. Loaded up the sample project, the The Wonder Wizard of OZ for film! This looks like a wonderful program, really excited about it!
I see there’s a storyboard section, production schedule, and screenplay section, master catalog all integrated… the production schedule has a calendar to schedule and plan out the day and months. This is a major program, cant believe it’s free.
One more thing I noticed is that one can have the option to signup for a Celtx Acount? The account allows for 1) Remote Backups 2) Collaboration Workspaces 3) Publishing and 4) iPhone Project Viewing… this definitely is an interesting feature, have you tried this yet?
Yep, I use it all and it’s awesome! Celtx used to be a pay program but they went open source (last year I think).
It’s great when you have multiple people working ont he same project. We upload everything to their servers (it gets encrypted by them). Then anybody can download, change, and upload the script. There is versioning so you can save snapshots of your project at any time.
Celtx is just awesome. All of the script types you will see are industry standard. So you’ll be working with standard script types. Plus the typeset feature is awesome. Once you’ve got your script done click the typeset tab and it outputs it to that industry standard format for printing or saving as a PDF.
I noticed the industry standard, the formatting for the screenplay… i was looking into screenplay software, but this has it all right there and integrated too. This is great. just signed up for the Celtx account, going to test the collaboration feature over the weekend here and the backups and all
Wow. I think I really should try this. I have been looking for this type of resource for a very long time. The only thing I ever got on the net was cybercollege.com which is nothing compared to this. I have already gotten my Celtx account and I will start experiencing its power right now.
Thanks very much for sharing.
