Dew Knight

Doing the Dew, Old School Style

Spore comes out in September and I can’t wait. This is a game that is pretty much creating a whole new genre of gaming. I’m sure I’ll be playing Spore nonstop for a week when it is released. They just released some pictures and more information about the creature stage in spore. Check it out on Wired.

  • Joint OpsI reinstalled Joint Operations: Typhoon rising last night and I forgot how fun that game was. Playing with a group of people you know is the best but even playing alone is awesome.

I hadn’t played in about 5 months and it did take a round to get back into it, but after that I was having great fun. There is so much you can do in that game: fighting legitimately or even screwing around with people. Of course my favorite thing to do is grab some satchel charges, put them on a dinghy, grab my detonator, and charge another ship. BOOM! Your jihad is successful and the other ship has been blown up!

Of course you can always throw down and kill other people. I always play as a medic. I do a decent amount of killing but I heal everybody man. Medivac is where it’s at! And of course, Orange Bowl is the coolest server. 2 hour time limit and a huge map with tons of players! Joint Ops is such a great game.

This is a little video we put together of us blowing up a foolish sniper in Joint Ops:

  • Dungeon RunnersI downloaded Dungeon Runners last night after seeing it mentioned on mmorpg.com. I have to say it is actually pretty fun so far.

Dungeon Runners is a Medieval Fantasy, free MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) from NC Soft (the makers of games such as Guild Wars and City of Heroes / Villains). The graphics aren’t the best, but they are decent enough to not be annoying.

There is little avatar customization, so everybody pretty much has the same looking guy (luckily armor does change your look). I have only played to about the first 10 levels and so far it seems like a pretty good game. You take quests, and run through instances to kill monsters and complete these quests. From what I see you can group up with people to run through instances (also known as “Teaming Up To Fight Evil and Take Its Stuff”)

Possibly the best part of the game is the item names. The creators of this game must have been bored when making it, because it has some of the best and funniest item names I have ever seen. I have seen items up for sale such as

    • Thrashin’ Three Story Shield of the Brawling Tigon
    • Trained Wondrous Chain Gloves of the Hounded Manatee
    • Vengeful Rusty Shadow Plate of the Freakish Liger
    • Rusty Scale Spaulders of the Hippo
    • Baby Seal Skin Cap
    • Sharp Rusty Scale Shield of the Panda

When I first saw these items I didn’t notice it, but after about the third item I was busting up in laughter. I’ll continue playing this game for a while and see how it turns out. It is available for free, with some advertisements on loading screens and above the window in the game. There is a paid version available for $5 a month, which provides you access to certain items in games, a bigger inventory and bank, and gets rid of the in-game ads. You can join Dungeon Runners for free by clicking here.
