Doing the Dew, Old School Style
I am so happy! I saw that Spore is definitely going to happen. No vapourware for them, they’ve already got a working game, now they’re just tweaking bugs and adding content! Spore will probably land in my top 10 favorite games of all time. It’s a whole new genre of game, that lets you do and make anything you want. Check out the 5 page review of the hands on preview that some guys wrote after playing the working game. There is also a set release date of September 7th. That’s not too far away!
I also just saw that BioWare may be working on a new KOTOR RPG. This would be in addition to the rumored MMO they are working on. Sweet! KOTOR is for sure in my top 10 now, and they would do an insane awesome job at it!
I read a little bit ago about the biggest scam in Eve Online history. A corporation dedicated to killing people for money managed to infiltrate another corporation for a year, destroyed and podded their leader, and stole parts and money worth 30 billion ISK from the corporation hangers. The best part is that this was all legal in the Eve universe. This is a great story, and I applaud the Guiding Hand Social Club (GHSC). A fitting name for such a scam as this.
I’ll admit I was a pretty big scammer in RuneScape. Microweasel and I ripped off countless people, not caring who our targets were. We scammed just for the thrill of scamming. If you were brand new to the game we’d take your starting equipment, it didn’t matter. I love reading stories about great scams, because we had so many great ideas, and I always love popping back on real quick for a scam or two. We also invented MSU’s, or sleeping bags in RuneScape about 2 weeks before they thought of them, but that’s another story.
This Eve Online scam reminds me of The Great Scam I read about a while ago. It has since been proved to be just a story, an idea that never got past the planning stages, but nonetheless it is a great story. Here’s a cached version: The Great Scam. And here’s the bit about it being fictitious.
I’m just waiting for the next extra $15 I have to start up Eve Online again. I love this game so much. If you haven’t played it, you need to at least try it out. It can take some time to get into the game, but you’ll love it! It’s a space MMO with a completely user run economy. There is only one server, so everybody plays with everybody else. Visit the Eve Online website to get a free trial.
I downloaded Dungeon Runners last night after seeing it mentioned on mmorpg.com. I have to say it is actually pretty fun so far.
Dungeon Runners is a Medieval Fantasy, free MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) from NC Soft (the makers of games such as Guild Wars and City of Heroes / Villains). The graphics aren’t the best, but they are decent enough to not be annoying.
There is little avatar customization, so everybody pretty much has the same looking guy (luckily armor does change your look). I have only played to about the first 10 levels and so far it seems like a pretty good game. You take quests, and run through instances to kill monsters and complete these quests. From what I see you can group up with people to run through instances (also known as “Teaming Up To Fight Evil and Take Its Stuff”)
Possibly the best part of the game is the item names. The creators of this game must have been bored when making it, because it has some of the best and funniest item names I have ever seen. I have seen items up for sale such as
When I first saw these items I didn’t notice it, but after about the third item I was busting up in laughter. I’ll continue playing this game for a while and see how it turns out. It is available for free, with some advertisements on loading screens and above the window in the game. There is a paid version available for $5 a month, which provides you access to certain items in games, a bigger inventory and bank, and gets rid of the in-game ads. You can join Dungeon Runners for free by clicking here.
I’ve been watching some Firefly again the last couple of days. First I have to say that one of my favorite episodes is episode 14 (the last one). It has the Jubal Early character which is a crazy bounty hunter that boards the ship. River’s character is excellent in this, and just the whole episode is awesome.
Anyways, every time I watch Firefly I want to go back to playing Eve. I just really keep wanting an awesome space MMO, but I never really am able to get into Eve. I can’t wait for the Firefly MMO. And maybe if I can get together another $15 I can play Eve again for another month.
