Relearning PHP

It’s been forever since I’ve used PHP, probably 1.5 years now. I’ve been relearning it this week for a website I am making. With this computer business I’ll be doing a little bit of website stuff as well. Definitely not focusing on it, but it’s available. Relearning PHP is weird. I’ve still got parts of it in my mind, but I keep making stupid mistakes and forgetting functions. It’s not that much of a site, but it is involved enough to make it a little hard. I’m about 50% done with the coding of it right now. Just a couple more things to add and it will be ready for testing.

  • So I had that scope done today. I don’t remember anything from when it was happening. All I have heard so far is that I am supposed to give up pizza. Yeah right, like that’s going to happen. I already had to give up mexican and other spicy foods. You can’t take my pizza way!

At least I’m going to use this time I have taken off work to do something productive. I’ve got the whole rest of the week off and I’m planning to get a whole lot done. I’m working on a website for a friend, getting all the design changed, information up there, and making it really easy for him to make changes to the website. It’s all simple except for the backend script that I’ll be putting together (which is also pretty simple)

I’m also going to be working heavily on that youth group video we’re making. I am working on learning Lightwave and putting together an ocean and a beach to use in our green screen footage. This one’s got a deadline so I’m trying to do the most work on it.

I’m working on the website for computer repair company I’m starting. This company will be a lot more than computer repair, and the website will play a really, really huge role in making profits and everything for the company. This doesn’t have a deadline but it’s higher on my list of things to get done. We’ve got an awesome name for the company and I’ve snagged the domain name. I still need to register the trade name and decide how I’m setting up the business.

I’m also planning on doing a little work on the Broken Fork website. I’ve just kind of got it up there right now to sit there. I’d like to work on a custom design and really plan out the wording. This is kind of a lower priority than everything else, but definitely needs to get done.

I’m still a little groggy and weird from the stuff they gave me. I’m also really hungry. I’m supposed to take it easy for the next couple of days. I still haven’t eaten anything significant since Tuesday.

    Oooh pretties

I am working on design number… 500? for the new website for my church. I’ve been through a bunch of designs that I didn’t really like, and I created one about a month ago that I actually like. It had all the different sections that I wanted and actually looked pretty good. But I just scrapped it. It looks bad to me now.

For some reason all of a sudden I had some ideas. I sketched out a quick design and then popped into Photoshop and roughed one out. It looks awesome! It’s all pretty and everything, really looks very nice, clean, and organized. I’m gonna continue working on this more because I think this is the design that will become the website!

I’m also working on completely revamping Broken Fork. It will become much more than it is in the coming months, and I think by April we should be at the point to launch it as the new Broken Fork. There is so much to go into, but I don’t want to spill the details on it all yet. It will be full of win.

  • I’ve been using a couple of awesome sites to convert videos, music, documents, and a ton of other stuff to another format without installing anything on my computer. You can even convert YouTube videos to a video file that you can download. I don’t like to install a lot of software because a lot of it is filled with spyware, and the rest may just mess your computer up.

My two favorite sites are vixy.net and Media Convert. Use vixy.net for YouTube movies and any FLV files you have stored on your computer. Media Convert will convert movies, music, documents, and pretty much anything to other formats. Both do it without having to install anything on your computer.
